Tanya’s Top: Recipes, Summer 2018

Summer 2018 recipe round up

10+ recipes to try this month.

I love to entertain, especially during the summer months. Saturday afternoons in the backyard with friends and family, for a rose-filled lunch of my favorite Summer recipes—really, does it get any better? We grill up an array of lean proteins (skirt steak, chicken, tuna, shrimp) and serve them on platters to pair with the different salads and vegetable side dishes, and of course, great conversations. No excess carbs grace the table, and no one leaves hungry either. Best of all, it’s the perfect opportunity for me to test out some of my new F-Factor recipes.

With June and July behind us, we’ve solidified some clear winners and favorites that will work all-year-round. Just because Summer is coming to an end, it doesn’t mean these are obsolete! Let’s keep the good eats going! You asked for them, and we listened. Here’s some of my favorite–and your most requested–recipes from Summer 2018:

“Bagel” Waffles“Should we do a Goldberg’s run?” That’s something you definitely won’t hear in my house…. and now we’re certainly not missing bagels either! Our 20/20 waffles are good all-year-round, but this summer we couldn’t help but get creative. We’ve managed to capture all the best parts of the bagel-with-schmear experience and with Vanilla 20/20 Fiber/Protein powder, created bagel-flavored waffles that can truly hold their own. Not to mention, they are a fraction of the calories, carbs and fat of your typical bagel sandwich. Our perfected favorites: the Cinnamon Raisin Bagel Waffle and the Everything Bagel Sandwich waffle.

20/20 Vanilla Latte – Early weekend mornings in the Hamptons can be so serene. I used to make a big hot cup of coffee to enjoy while reading the paper outside before anyone wakes up. Recently I’ve replaced that with this “vanilla latte,” as it has fiber too. The fiber works to slow gastric emptying, so the caffeine from the coffee is released into the bloodstream at a slower rate. Any sort of caffeine jitters are avoided, AKA my serene mornings stay serene. Like it cold? Make your java a mocha frappe with this recipe.

Low-Fat Veggie Dip – If I’m having guests over, a crudité platter is a non-negotiable to have out when guests arrive. This veggie dip can be whipped up in minutes with ingredients I always have in the house, and because it uses nonfat Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, it’s perfectly fine to double, triple and even quadruple dip (…for your waistline! One dip per veggie, mind your manners, people!)

Asian Sesame Snap Pea Salad – This is one of our most request recipes… and rightfully so! It’s absolutely delicious, and incredibly simple to make; only 4 ingredients needed!

Addicting Cucumbers – PSA: these cucumbers got their name because they’re just that good, they’re a d d i c t i n g ! Inspired by the addicting cucumbers from Gyu Kaku, these can be made at home in just minutes. Pretty much same way as the snap peas above – just slice cucumbers (Persian cucumbers work well because they’re small) add low sodium soy sauce, just a little bit of sesame oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Toss and serve.

Blistered Mini Bell Peppers – Another go-to at our Summer gatherings. These blistered peppers present gorgeously and pair well with grilled lean proteins. They make a great side dish for any gathering, and can be made in advance and reheated too.

Chinese Chicken Salad – This is one of my summertime go-tos. The recipe here includes chicken, but what I love to do is leave the protein out from the salad, and serve with platters of grilled proteins (shrimp, tuna, steak etc.) so that guests can choose their own.

Skirt Steak (Sean’s famous!) – Sure, you can throw a piece of skirt steak on the grill and it will come out pretty good… but you can also follow Sean’s tips to ensure you’re making one of our bbq favorites the F-Factor way. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

F-Factor Ice Cream! – Probably one of our most exciting creations of Summer 2018! Who knew ice cream was so simple to make? With just 3 ingredients (F-Factor 20/20 Fiber/Protein Powder, milk and nonfat Greek yogurt) and an ice cream maker, you can make  #FFACTORAPPROVED ice creams… at home… in under and hour!
