In a world where there is so much we can’t control right now, it’s easy to just melt into your couch and binge watch Netflix for hours (we’re currently writing this whilst DEEP in a Love is Blind binge…). However, there are a couple of things we can do to feel a sense of normalcy and control in our lives- like moving our bodies each day. Moving your body is essential for our mental, physical, and emotional health- it improves circulation, boosts energy, enhances your mood, and helps (along with fiber) to regulate your digestive system. And if that’s not enough reason for you- it’s at least an excuse to change out of your new uniform (matching joggers and a sweatshirt) into a cute workout outfit.
While all of our favorite in-studio workouts are currently shut down, we’ve rounded up our team’s 5 favorite WFH (Work From Home) Workouts that you can do from the comfort of your own home and with limited gym equipment! And if you’re looking to level up your workouts, check out Tanya Zuckerbrot’s favorite workout equipment here.
OBÉ FITNESS
The Scoop: Obé Fitness is an on-demand and live-streamed workout platform that has been described as a mix between a Jane Fonda workout and the movie Tron, with a dash of Drake’s “Hotline Bling” video. The app offers a variety of workouts – covering everything from sculpt, to strength, to dance cardio, circuits, HIIT, yoga, boxing, and more! Their signature live and replay classes are 28 minutes and are structured across three pillars: Define, Sweat, and Flow. They also have 10-minute Express classes that are great to add on or do when you’re short on time.
F-Factor Team Review: Julia Tishman, MS, RD, CDN has been loving the Obé fitness app. She says, “they have tons of on-demand workouts when you can’t make it to the live ones! Which is great because between seeing clients all day and running around after my toddler, it’s hard to make scheduled workouts.”
MELISSA WOOD HEALTH
The Scoop: Melissa Wood Tepperberg is a mom, a certified health and wellness coach, yoga instructor, and founder of the Melissa Wood Health method. MWH is a series of precise low impact movements that help to sculpt long, lean lines throughout your entire body. Her methodology is about more than just building a body you desire… it’s about building a better, stronger relationship with yourself.
F-Factor Team Review: MWH workouts are definitely a favorite among the F-Factor team. For Samantha Haas, MS, RD, CDN, she loves to power walk 3 miles in the morning and then do 10-20 minutes of strength training at night, which is perfect with the MWH App. She said, “I find it difficult to have an intense workout in the evening, but Melissa is simple, easy to follow, and does the trick!” Julia Tishman, MS, RD, CDN, has been a fan of the MWH app for years because she loves Melissa’s energy. She says, “the workouts are challenging, but definitely more Pilates-yoga-barre focused. She also always offers modification in her workouts in case you don’t have certain equipment.”
INSTAGRAM AND YOUTUBE LIVE WORKOUTS
The Scoop: Many of our favorite workout classes, from Barry’s Bootcamp to Rumble, and ShadowBox, are offering free live-streamed daily workout classes on Instagram.
F-Factor Team Review: Maria Stavropoulos, MS, RD, CDN, and a regular at the Shadowbox Studio, has been loving their 20-45 minute IG workouts. She says, “the instructors are motivating and have the BEST playlists that leave me finishing the class even stronger than when I started!” Other F-Factor Team members have also been loving Barry’s 20-minute workouts each day (HOW can you be that sore after only 20 minutes?!?) and 305’s Dance Cardio workouts on YouTube.
SCULPT SOCIETY
The Scoop: You’ve no doubt seen Megan Roup’s cult-favorite workout routines all over our favorite influencers’ Instagram accounts. From trend-setting entrepreneurs like Arielle Charnas to health and wellness gurus, and even Sports Illustrated models- everyone is obsessed with her upbeat Dance Cardio and Sculpting workouts! Now with her app, you’re able to live-stream her workouts from anywhere around the world (aka your living room).
F-Factor Team Review: Our Director of Nutrition, Amanda Karp, MS, RD, CDN, has been streaming Sculpt Society workouts a few mornings a week. She says, “I love that I can use cans (or bottles wine!) as weights and recommend using towels as sliders for leg workouts, so there’s no equipment required.”
OUTDOOR WALKS
The Scoop: The number one thing each team member is doing daily: walking outside! Being cooped up inside all day is not only a drain on your body but your mind as well. The entire F-Factor team has been loving daily outdoor walks to boost their energy and mood, as well as get some much-needed oxygen and vitamin D!
Julia: “I have a toddler, so rain or shine we are out for a walk around the neighborhood. On sunnier days we’ve been going for walks on the beach- it’s pretty amazing, so don’t rule out a beach walk even if you live somewhere cold!”
Amanda: “On nice days I’ve been taking my dog, Frankie, on long walks or a jog through the park.”
Maria: “Since I live near the West Side Highway in NYC, I’ve been taking daily walks with my sister (and roommate!) to get some fresh air.”
Samantha: “Every morning I go on a 3-mile power walk or bike ride outside. The fresh air and scenery has been so grounding.”
Most importantly, we hope you’re all staying safe and healthy during these crazy times!
xo,
The F-Factor Team
