Dining Out American Tips

  • Start with an appetizer- a salad with dressing on the side or a broth based soup, fills you up and helps you to consume fewer calories during the main course.
  • Ask for the breadbasket to be removed from the table or if your dining mates would like bread keep it to their side of the table.
  • Order all dressings and sauces on the side; use zero calorie vinegar or lemon instead with a sprinkle of parmesan for flavor.
  • Go for grilled, steamed or baked over pan seared and fried.
  • Always request for your dishes to be prepared "light" (less oil).
  • Avoid ordering "creamy" or "crispy" items.
  • Substitute the fries or potato side for a salad or steamed vegetables.
  • If vegetables contain oil, butter or sauce, eat 1/2 of the serving.
  • If vegetables are plain and steamed eat as much as you like.
  • When it comes to dessert, stick to the three-bite rule. Studies show that people always rate the first and last bites as the best. Three bites give you a first, middle and last, which is all you need to appreciate a dessert completely. Also feel free to order a cup or tea or coffee to help satisfy your sweet tooth at the meal’s end.
  • If ordering alcoholic beverages opt for non dessert wines, champagne or spirits on the rocks or with club soda. Avoid sugary drinks and beer.

About Marble Lane

The name Marble Lane sounds straight from a nursery rhyme. Remember the Muffin Man, you know, the one that lives on Mulberry Lane? While certainly fantastical and similarly lined by trees, the Manhattan eatery Marble Lane is worlds away from where the muffin man resides.

Sunk into the lobby of the Dream Downtown, this Meat Packing steak house is illuminated by large spherical bubbles suspended from the ceiling, creating an fun and upbeat ambience inot unlike that of a Las Vegas casino where you can easily lose track of time. You may be dining at 11:30 pm on a Tuesday night, but at a spot Marble Lane who’s to say that’s even late? Open for about a year now, the place is still a scene, attracting a good looking, young crowd, undoubtedly on their way to the nearby clubs.

Unlike most restaurants in the area, the portions here are rather sizable—thanksfully, since the prices are, too. . The good news is that you can get a healthy meal at Marble Lane. at. Sure, there are decadent dishes on the menu, but you’ll find a good selection of F-Factor approved options, too. I recommend starting with the big and succulent Beefsteak Tomato salad and the sharing an entrée, like the Tuna Tartare - my favorite. Marble Lane’s version is super-fresh with peppery kick. Another great choice is roasted chicken – just ask for it to be prepared without butter. It’s best to ignore all of the potato-based side dishes on the menu, though. Instead, order your choice of teamed and grilled veggies indulge guilt-free.
